Minus Comics

I’m a fan of Garfield Minus Garfield, that postmodern exploration of existential alienation, not to mention the more recent Garfield Without Garfield’s Thought Balloons. These lovely experiments left me wondering what other comics might evoke a new emotional response as a result of minusification. Without further ado, then, I am pleased to present a full page of Minus Comics.

“Garfield minus John & Garfield”: Brilliant.

I’ve only just started following your blog, but been following your work ever since I stumbled upon “Computer Graphics and Geometric Ornamental Design” and TapRats.

And then I read about your fondness for espresso with a side of sparkling mineral water, and was a little bit amazed: that’s exactly how I have mine. Spooky! You weren’t adopted, by any chance? Only I feel like we almost could be related.

I have a pet project to rewrite TapRats using CoffeeScript & SVG, but I must admit, I haven’t taken it very far, because work, parenthood, excuses, etc.

David, how appropriate in this context that you should be considering a rewrite of Taprats in CoffeeScript — be sure to add in SparklingWater.js, if such a thing exists.

I’ve actually got a little bit of a Taprats rewrite going in Haxe at the moment, but I have a long way to go before it’ll be useful.

Um, I’m pretty sure I’m not adopted, but I suppose we haven’t ruled out the possibility that you are…

Yep. Am definitely adopted. Bastard by birth, bastard by nature.

Haxe: interesting. I’ll keep plodding away with CoffeeScript + Raphael.js, and for a fun diversion, try it out in Elixir (though, still a n00b with that).

SparklingWater.js sounds like the name it has to be!

Have you heard of the Javascript drinking game? Think of a noun, verb, adjective or adverb, add “.js” to the end, google, if there’s a framework with that name: Drink!
